Help Animal Jam Support Conservation Efforts

We are happy to support National Geographic in its mission to inspire people to care about our planet. National Geographic and Animal Jam are dedicated to stopping the decline of animal populations throughout the world. Conservationists and volunteers worldwide work hard to protect endangered species and move them to safer places if necessary. A portion of your Animal Jam membership fee and other purchases go to support National Geographic's global conservation and research efforts through programs such as The Big Cats Initiative.

The Big Cats Initiative is a comprehensive program that supports on-the-ground conservation projects, education, and economic incentive efforts, as well as a global public-awareness campaign. It focuses specifically on big cats such as lions, tigers, cheetahs, leopards, jaguars, and other felines that are victims of habitat loss and degradation as well as conflicts with humans.

To help this exciting new initiative, learn how to purchase an Animal Jam membership by clicking here.

You can also show your support by purchasing limited edition Help Save Big Cats Wristband Packs, where 40% of the net proceeds from each purchase goes toward Big Cat conservation. Each pack includes five unique wristbands in awesome colors great for girls and boys. Click here to for more information.

Another exciting way for your child to get involved in conservation efforts is through our Play Wild Fund. The Play Wild Fund focuses on specific programs that are chosen by Animal Jam players themselves, through the in-game Conservation Museum. Kids help steer the Play Wild Fund’s real-world money by contributing their virtual “gems” to the programs they wish to support. These programs receive donations from Smart Bomb Interactive and Animal Jam. This means that every gem helps steer donations to charities chosen specifically by our players!

The Appondale Conservation Museum exhibits endangered species and the threats they face in the wild. Conservation efforts are also explained, so players will understand exactly what the Play Wild Fund is doing to protect each specific species. Right now, the Conservation Museum is focusing on The Big Cats Initiative. The museum collects donations of gems to help fund the conservation movement, and to learn which causes players care most about in order to discern the next Play Wild Fund program.

Donating gems helps players learn about conservation movements in the world around us. For example, in 2012, monkey avatars became endangered in Jamaa. Due to the generosity of our players, who donated a whopping 100,000,000 gems, we were able to successfully conserve the population. Monkeys are now back adventuring the lands, all thanks to the conscientious efforts of our players.
